Capfin Loan Approval Time: How Long Does It Take?

In short: Capfin says you may get a pre-approval quickly after you apply, but a loan is only paid once it has approved the application and, where required, you have accepted the DebiCheck mandate. Its FAQ says payout is within 48 business hours after approval, and that a slow DebiCheck confirmation can delay the transfer.

This page is about Capfin timelines in South Africa. It is not personal advice and it does not mean you will be approved.

What “approval” means here

Capfin’s how-it-works page says that after you apply online, in a PEP or Ackermans store, or by SMS, you may receive a pre-approval within minutes. After the credit and affordability assessment you get a loan offer with a repayment period.

That is not the same as money in the account. Capfin’s terms say the granting of the loan is entirely within its discretion, and that the agreement is concluded only once you accept the pre-agreement statement and quotation and Capfin pays the loan. Those terms identify Capfin as NCRCP13053, a division of Pepkor Trading (Pty) Ltd.

How long payout takes

The FAQ answers “How long will I wait for a pay-out?” with: the loan is paid out within 48 business hours after approval to your nominated bank account. It also says a delay in approving the DebiCheck mandate with your bank will delay the transfer.

The how-it-works page says that if the application is approved you receive an SMS, and funds are transferred within 48 business hours after approval. If it is not approved, the same page and the FAQ say you may reapply after 30 calendar days.

Do not treat 48 business hours as a promise that every file is paid on the same day you apply. DebiCheck, missing documents or a failed affordability check can stop or delay payout.

What Capfin says you need

The FAQ lists a valid South African ID, the latest three payslips or three bank statements, permanent employment with a monthly salary, a valid cellphone number, and a valid South African bank account at a bank Capfin supports. It lists Standard Bank, Absa, FNB, Nedbank, Capitec and African Bank among the supported banks on that FAQ answer. Confirm the current list on Capfin’s FAQ if your bank is not those names.

You can apply on www.capfin.co.za, by SMS to 33005, or in store. The FAQ says the amount you may apply for is up to R50 000, based on affordability, income, expenses, credit profile and payment behaviour. Seeing what you qualify for requires an application and an offer. That offer can still change after the assessment.

How to check what happened

Capfin’s online profile uses your South African ID and a one-time PIN sent to the registered cellphone number. For a settlement figure or account query, the FAQ points to 087 354 0000, the online profile, or USSD *134*6454#. WhatsApp 066 000 0683 is the official chat number on the contact page.
