In short: To spend eBucks in a partner store, present your eBucks card and enter your 4-digit eBucks PIN (it works like a debit card). At groceries, Pick n Pay (and Pick n Pay Liquor) is where you can spend in-store — you cannot spend eBucks on Pick n Pay asap!. From 1 April 2025 FNB named Pick n Pay the primary retail partner and customers no longer earn eBucks at Checkers. SPAR earn and spend ends 30 September 2026. Confirm partners on ebucks.com. Spend eBucks at the till
- Check your balance first (FNB app eBucks icon, eBucks website, or SMS balance + ID number to 32224 — eBucks lists SMS at R1 each)
- At a participating in-store partner, present your eBucks card
- Enter your 4-digit eBucks PIN when asked
- If the basket costs more than your eBucks balance, pay the shortfall with your FNB / RMB Private Bank card after the eBucks swipe
Pick n Pay (primary grocer partner)
- Spend: Pick n Pay Supermarket, Hypermarket, Clothing and Liquor stores in South Africa (eBucks card + PIN)
- Do not spend: Pick n Pay asap!, PnP Home / grocery websites (Pick n Pay and eBucks both say you cannot spend eBucks online there)
- Earn: in-store and on asap! with qualifying FNB cards — rates and caps depend on your account and reward level (see the partner page tables)
- No earn at Pick n Pay Express, pharmacies, Money Market, Webtickets, value-added services (for example utility / DStv payments), or Cash@Till
- Refunds follow Pick n Pay policy — you cannot get cash back for items paid with eBucks
Checkers — what changed
FNB’s 27 February 2025 announcement: from 1 April 2025, with Pick n Pay as the expanded primary retail partner, customers no longer earn eBucks on Checkers spend (that earn had been up to 15%). Treat older “spend/earn at Checkers” guides as out of date unless eBucks lists Checkers again on the live partner pages.
SPAR leaving
eBucks states that from 30 September 2026 SPAR will no longer be an earn and spend partner. Use Pick n Pay for grocery earn/spend after that date.
Other partners
Fuel, fashion and online partners change. Open Spend with eBucks partners before you shop — do not rely on an old listicle.
