In short: On Capitec, “vouchers” usually means digital codes you buy in the banking app under Transact, then Buy vouchers (including a Flexi voucher for participating retailers). Send Cash is a related but separate Capitec product: you send cash for collection at participating shops or a Capitec ATM, not a shop gift voucher. Buy vouchers (app)
Capitec’s official Buy vouchers material describes buying and sending vouchers to anyone in South Africa from the app:
- Tap Transact.
- Tap Buy vouchers.
- Choose a voucher type from the list Capitec shows that day.
- Choose or enter the voucher amount.
- Enter the recipient’s cellphone number.
- Tap Buy and confirm with your Remote PIN or biometrics as prompted.
A Flexi voucher is described as usable at participating retailers (groceries, restaurants, takeaways, clothing, beauty, wellness and similar categories). The participating-retailer list lives on Capitec’s Buy vouchers page and can change. Open that page or the in-app voucher detail before you buy. Do not rely on an outdated third-party retailer table.
Send Cash is not the same product
Send Cash lets a Capitec client send cash for someone to collect. Capitec’s FAQ states clients can use the app, *120*3279# or Internet banking. Collection points listed on the FAQ include Ackermans, PEP, PEP HOME, PEP CELL, Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Game, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Capitec ATMs (confirm the live list). The recipient typically needs the reference and a 4-digit secret code the sender creates. Capitec’s June 2026 fee sheet footnotes publish remote-banking app Send Cash limits of up to R3 000 per transaction, R5 000 per day and R24 990 per month, and mobile banking (*120*3279#) Send Cash limits of up to R1 000 per transaction and per day (monthly cap as published). Fees appear as a Send Cash line on the fee sheet (confirm the current rand amount before you send).
Redeem and send themes
- Redeem a Flexi or retailer voucher: Follow the voucher instructions Capitec or the retailer shows (often a code or WiCode at till). Keep screenshots of codes until redeemed.
- Send a voucher to someone else: Use the cellphone number field in Buy vouchers and confirm the number before you pay.
- Collect Send Cash: See Capitec Send Cash withdrawal and unredeemed Capitec Cash Send.
- Send Cash vs other banks’ cash products: Capitec to eWallet or CashSend (Send Cash is Capitec’s own product).
What to confirm live
- Which voucher types appear under Buy vouchers on your profile today (catalogue changes).
- Any purchase fee or VAS fee shown before you confirm (use the app screen and Capitec fee sheet, not a third-party fee table).
- Expiry, single-use rules and whether unused balance can be kept. Those rules sit in Capitec’s voucher terms for that product.
- For Send Cash: current fee tiers, minimum amount and collection partners on Capitec’s FAQ or fee sheet.
Before you buy or send
- Buy only inside the official Capitec app, Internet banking or the USSD channel Capitec publishes. Ignore “free Capitec voucher” links in messages.
- Never share your Remote PIN, OTP or secret Send Cash code with a caller who claims to work for Capitec.
- If a voucher code is lost after you received it, contact Capitec Client Care on the number published on capitecbank.co.za. Outcome depends on Capitec’s terms for that voucher.
