In short: You can move money on Capitec without the smartphone app by using cellphone banking USSD (*120*3279#), Internet banking, a Capitec ATM / self-service channel where offered, or a branch. Capitec’s own FAQ and fee materials treat *120*3279# as the mobile banking / USSD entry for transfers, vouchers and Send Cash. Limits on USSD are often lower than on the app. Confirm menus, fees and limits on the live USSD session and Capitec’s published fee sheet. Not financial advice.

USSD / cellphone banking (*120*3279#)
Dial *120*3279# from the cellphone number registered for Capitec mobile banking. Capitec’s Send Cash FAQ states you can use the app, *120*3279# or Internet banking, and gives a Send Cash USSD path of reply 2 then reply 3, then follow the prompts (accept terms, choose the from-account, enter amount, create a 4-digit secret code, confirm with your Mobile Banking PIN). For ordinary transfers to a Capitec or other-bank account, open the Transfers (or similarly labelled) option on the live menu and enter the beneficiary details exactly as shown. Menu numbers can change; follow the labels on your handset, not a screenshot from an old article.
Capitec’s June 2026 fee sheet footnotes: mobile banking (*120*3279#) Send Cash limits of up to R1 000 per transaction and per day (monthly cap as published), versus higher remote-banking app Send Cash limits. Transfer fees to Capitec clients and to other South African banks also appear as separate lines on that fee sheet (confirm the current rand amounts before you send).
Internet banking (computer or browser)
- Open the official Capitec website and use the published Internet banking login (bookmark the real site; do not follow login links in SMS or email).
- Sign in with the credentials Capitec issued for remote or Internet banking.
- Use Transact / Transfers (wording can vary) to pay a saved beneficiary or add one carefully.
- For Send Cash or vouchers, use the matching Internet banking tiles if they appear on your profile.
- Confirm amount, destination and fee on screen, then authorise with your Remote PIN or the challenge Capitec shows.
ATM and branch
- Capitec ATM / self-service: With your Capitec card and PIN, look for Transfers or Send Cash options on the machine menus. Availability can differ by machine. Keep the receipt.
- Branch: Take your ID and card. A consultant can help with transfers, beneficiaries and Send Cash during branch hours published for that site. Consultant-assisted fees may differ from digital fees on the fee sheet.
Before you transfer without the app
- Confirm *120*3279# still responds on your registered number (live check).
- Know whether you are sending to a bank account, buying a voucher, or using Send Cash. Those are different products.
- For Send Cash, share the secret code only with the intended recipient through a channel you trust. Capitec’s FAQ describes collection with the reference and secret code at listed partners.
- Never give your Mobile Banking PIN or Remote PIN to a caller.
What to confirm live
- Daily and per-transaction limits on USSD vs app for your profile.
- Fee lines for “to Capitec client”, “to other South African bank”, “immediate payment” and “Send cash” on the current Capitec fee sheet.
- Whether Internet banking shows the same beneficiaries you use on the app.
